Internal Linking:

Linking your pages
Well I'm pretty sure that everyone here is familiar with links, because you'll have clicked on many by the time you've reached this site. Those links are external links, ie, sites linking to other sites. We however, want to look a little closer at internal links, ie, the links that we use just on our own site to go from page to page. For those of you who are saying "Oh no, not more boring text to read", hold your horses for just one moment. This could be the very thing that's holding your site back in the search results!

Why are these links so important?
Simply put, the number of links you have on your start page indicates to the SE's the number of pages you have in your website. A website with 10 pages is much more impressive to Google than a website with only 1 page. "Aha.... my site has 30 pages", I hear you say, "no problems for me." Actually, there may well be problems for you. What kind of links are you using, text or javascript? If it's the latter, the SE's are probably only seeing your main page.

What are javascript links?
Javascript links are normally found in fancy navigation menus, you know the type that 'flyout' when you hover over them. Search Engines and Javascript are not bosom buddies, the SE's have serious difficulties reading javascript. So then, if you are currently using one of those fancy menus on your website, I strongly advise you to place 'proper' HTML links elsewhere on your page, do it today.

I don't know how to check if I use javascript menus
If you're not familiar with the html contents of your page, you should probably enlist the help of someone who is, I'm willing to take a peek at it for you and tell you what you've got, but I won't fix it, sorry I just don't have the time. View the source code for your page and have a look somewhere after the <body> tag. A proper navigation menu will look something like this:

<a href="gallery.html">Gallery</a>
<a href="price.html">Pricing</a>
<a href="mailto:joebloggs@nailworld.com">Email Joe</a>

Your menu may be wrapped around images like so:

<a href="gallery.html"><img src="gallery_button.jpg"></a>
<a href="pricing.html"><img src="prices_button.jpg"></a>
<a href="mailto:joebloggs@nailworld.com"><img src="email_button.jpg"></a>

The important thing to note is the <a href> tags, if these are not present for your navigation, you need to make some changes.
